Hi! I'm Joy. I started My True North Jewelry as a way of exploring ways on how jewelry can assist in my wellness journey.

I am glad to let all of you know that I feel so much better and present after a challenging past 9 months as I worked through my breast cancer diagnosis. I am grateful for my medical team catching it quite early and for the support of family and friends as I worked myself back to health. Thank you for supporting this little shop of mine. Our mission of touching peoples’ lives with encouragement, hope and positivity has been a guiding light in my recovery. If you are reading this, thank you for being part of my journey.

I was born and raised by a family of jewelers in Manila, Philippines - a cultural melting pot of Spanish, American, Malay, Chinese and Native Filipino values, traditions and rituals that made for rich and inclusive experiences while growing up.

As a young adult, I got my MBA in New York City and eventually found myself living an expat life with three children in tow living in Atlanta GA, Guelph, Ontario in Canada before finding ourselves in Lititz, Pennsylvania.

During my journey from the Far East to the West, I discovered such rich traditions and history in these new communities. I made new friends with personal stories and traditions that have shaped my appreciation for other peoples point of view and valued friendships built on very similar human values of love, respect, hope and family. Their stories often accompanied by personal pieces and symbols that hold special meaning to their faith, culture identity and aspiration.

I chose to design and create jewelry that use natural gemstones and symbols that honor these universal truths that we all value regardless of faith, background or nationality. Through my classes in Mindfulness, Reiki and Crystals, I was exposed to the gemstones' natural gift of energies that can affect us. I believe that they provide us that powerful mindful guidance on what we believe in and a natural burst of inspiration during our journeys.

Also, with the pandemic upending the entire world and us in the process, I have rediscovered the power of jewelry.

We are all in a new sense of existence with a new sets of challenges. I believe we need to be supported to navigate all these changes in our lives.

One thing I am sure of is that ...we all thrive when inspired.

We feel, think, and act our best selves. We find a way to combat those negative thoughts and feelings. And, we feel more in touch with who we really are, and the power we have within ourselves - Our True North.
